What is Cellisimo?
Founded in 1999 by Leah Jacob, Cellisimo is summer
ensemble experience for cellists (or those who want to
become cellists!)  It is essentially an orchestra just for
cellos!  If you are looking for a summer music camp for
your cellist in the Dayton or Cincinnati areas this is for you!
What classes are available?
  • Pee Wee Cellisimo is a fantastic way to introduce
your budding musician to the world of music -
specifically, the cello.  This class is for 4-6 year olds.
I have arranged for a special rental rate of $45 for
the seven weeks through Southminster Presbyterian
    Church.
  • Beginning Cellisimo is for those students with no
    prior experience playing the cello.
  • Intermediate Cellisimo is for students with more than
one year of experience.  We will learn new
techniques and work on playing together as an
ensemble.  This is a wonderful way to keep your
child playing during the summer months so they
don't forget everything they have learned during the
    school year.
  • Advanced Cellisimo is for students who are serious
about the cello and wish to learn advanced
techniques.  This class is reserved for the dedicated
    cello student.
  • Switch-Over Cellisimo is for students who have
previously played another stringed instrument and
wish to be prepared to be a cellist for the next
    school year.
  • Adult Cello Support Group  is for adults who have
either begun playing cello as an adult or played years
ago and want to get back into it.  It is a chance to
play together in an ensemble setting with no
    pressure.

Who is Leah Jacob?

Leah Hecht Jacob has roots in Dayton.  She attended
Bishop Liebold school through 8th grade and then

with many of Dayton's cello teachers then went on to
perform with the
Starling Preparatory Program out
of Cincinnati.  With this group she toured Germany,
Austria, and Switzerland.  They returned to the U.S.
and played in New York at Alice Tully Hall in
Lincoln Center.  This same group later went to
Colorado to perform at the

Leah spent a summer in Weston,Vermont at
Kinhaven Music School where she learned many
virtues of performing gracefully.

She graduated from Centerville High School in 1994
and went to
Cincinnati's College Conservatory of
Music.  She received chamber music coaching from
the
Tokyo String Quartet and Amernet String
Quartet.  She received private lessons from Lee Fiser
and Yehuda Hanani.  With CCM's Philharmonia
Orchestra Leah traveled to Portugal and played at
the World's Fair in 1997.  She graduated from CCM
in 1998 and won a position playing in the
Springfield
Symphony.  She has also played with the Dayton
Philharmonic as a substitute and sits principle in the
Lebanon Symphony.   Leah is also the manager and
